LIGNELL&PIISPANEN LAUNCHES NEW GIN – LIGNELL&PIISPANEN’S FRESH ARTISAN GIN HONOURS FINNISH FORESTS

Lignell&Piispanen, a family- run company with international awards and prizes for its vodkas and liqueurs, launches Gustav Metsä Gin. Premiering at the Helsinki Drink Festival, the artisan gin is inspired by and pays tribute to the Finnish forest.

Lignell&Piispanen from Kuopio, Finland is well-known for using local raw materials in its products, and Gustav Metsä Gin continues that tradition. Gustav Metsä Gin was born from the desire to honour the Finnish forests and nature. We may take harnessing Finland’s pure ingredients from nature somewhat for granted, but not everyone in the world does.

“The story of Gustav Metsä Gin started in Kuopio a few years ago when a group of Asian visitors wished to visit blueberry farms. The fact that the berries used in our products are hand-picked directly from the forest was an inconceivable idea for our guests. So, in the end, we couldn’t help but bring our guests into the actual woods to see where the ingredients we use come from,” says Harry Nylund, CEO of Lignell&Piispanen.

“The morning dew of the Nordic forests and its rich scent world, as well as taste experience, were the starting points for our new gin production,” says Mika Mönkkönen, Lignell&Piispanen’s distillery master. “The forest’s flavour palette is incredibly rich and pure, and we want to let our customers experience this treasure, too,” continues Mönkkönen.

Gustav Metsä Gin is a hand-crafted premium gin and is created using natural ingredients including juniper berries, spruce shoots, birch leaves, dandelion roots, midsummer rose petals, cardamom, lemon, basil, coriander, and pink pepper corns.
Gustav Metsä Gin will be launched at the Helsinki Drink Festival on Friday, March 1st, 2019 and will be available at Alko starting on March 23rd.
